After some colloquial testing I've found some stuff out: Gung-ho doesn't seem to affect sprint-out time at all, it only lets you shoot while sprinting. The sprint-out time still has to elapse before you can fire the weapon. However, there is also a glitch (could be intentional but doesn't seem like it) with Gung-ho where if you ADS and fire at the same time, there appears to be 0 sprint-out time (I could only record at 30 FPS so it might be a little more than 0 but it looked instantaneous). So, if you're planning on using a shotgun and just hipfiring, it would be beneficial to run both Fast Hands (to reduce the sprint-out time) and Gung-Ho (to maintain your movement speed). When you try to use gung-ho the same way like you would use fast hands, then it has no effect on sprintout time. But the "glitch" you speak of is how gung-ho needs to be used to be effective. I've adjusted my game to it and only a few times where I'm caught off guard do I experience the normal sprintout time.

i honestly feel like gung ho ADS glitch with vesper is a bigger crutch than DS/awareness.

gung ho gives 0 benefit from sprint to hipfire in terms of sprintout speed. However, you if you break sprint by pressing aim, not by pressing fire, you can start firing instantly.

Is that really a glitch though? My interpretation based on marvel4's explanation is any action that stops sprinting would heavily reduce sprint out time. Ads stops sprint, therefore benefiting greatly from it. I'd assume jumping, crouching or letting go of forward while holding the trigger would get similar results.

You can fire out of sprint instantly but only if you cancel the sprint first with ADS, jump, etc. It's faster than fast hands but you'll only have hipfire accuracy until you finish ADS.

So in cases where your Sprint-Out is the limiting factor of Sprint->ADS then using Gung-Ho over Fast Hands can offer a benefit if you take advantage of this 'glitch'.

yes, but it's not really good enough to warrant taking over DS/Awareness.

yes, but it's not really good enough to warrant taking over DS/Awareness. I'd rather have Hard-Wired/Gung-Ho than Fast Hands/Dead Silence or Awareness.

90% of my classes use Hardwired/DS/Gung Ho. I agree that Hardwired + Gung Ho > Awareness + Fast Hands. Just the benefit of shooting while adsing/jumping is too big to miss out on. I notice that huge delay every time I try playing without it.

If it works for you. My thinking is, if I know someone is coming it doesn't matter that it takes me a little longer to shoot.

I don't have a headset so Hard Wired + Gung Ho/DS > Fast Hands + Awareness/DS

Get a headset, join the try hard Darkside. Pretty much this. I did. And my headset isn't even super awesome or surround, but I run awareness on everything now.

I notice that huge delay every time I try playing without it. Plus I play really aggressive so without hardwired I get destroyed by trip mines, shock charges, etc. and the other benefits like immunity to CUAV and smoke while vastly reducing the effects of tracker and sixth sense are very helpful for staying alive. For a more defensive playstyle, I could understand valuing awareness more than hard-wired though. But that's not me.

Get a headset, join the try hard Darkside. I have a headset but I still run my setup. The headset still helps me hear people without awareness/DS. Awareness is very powerful but it makes me paranoid sometimes because I can't always make out where the footsteps are coming from. If I know a team is soundwhoring, I'll use perk 3 greed and put DS to counter awareness so it puts everyone at a level playing field (unless they have DS as well).
