The clan GodMars created is for both PSN and XBL. You should join too I was thinking whether we should create one for HSV1. But decided not to worry about it until we see enough interests from clan members. So far we only have you, me, aroc and mal committed to this game. The others are hesitant at the best. At this point in time, I have zero desire to organize clan efforts for another game. It's way to time consuming and CoD has worn me out completely (we've talked, you know what i am griping about). With CoD, I just want to get us (the clan) into the top 25, and qualify us for the Super Bowl finale world event on Sept 20/21st. From there, try to muster up one more effort to take on the top ranked clans. Maybe get lucky and win? I still want to win 1st overall. After that, I think am done. btw...forest, Swain, Jayz, Brown....there will be soon be many more coming along with this game and others. We are finally starting to see the migration occur off of platforms. It's happening now.

I see, looks like you are trying to find the best weapons for Crucible. In that case, white or green does not matter much, finding one that fits your play style is critical. I'll share the list of weapons I like the best out of each categories in the follow up post. Wait - in Crucible, don't you pretty much always want to be using green items over white? The damage values are adjusted to make level irrelevant, but the upgrades on your green weapons/armor still apply. Someone else chime in - am I correct here?

However, for the first month of the game's release I won't be play much. If this clan thing demands some work for the first month, then somebody else needs to step up. By the time I start playing, you guys would have been max level guardians with legendary gear while I am running with whitey tighteys (i.e. white gears of everything)

Yeah, I've found it somewhat fascinating how easy the game concepts come to me but are clearly lost on those with no MMO experience. It's a whole new world for a lot of players, and Destiny barely even scratches the MMO surface. I wonder how that will play come release, and if there will be more tutorial-like content in the retail version of the game.

Devil's Lair can be accessed how? Just come back from a match of Crucible (it is raining in Venus) and I swear I had inferior guns. The shotgun never got a OHK and the burst delay on the AR was quite long given the fast pace of the game. :/ Go to Orbit, select Earth, Devil's Lair is in the middle of the map, I believe. The shotguns rarely OHK. They have very short range, and I've found hit detection to be inconsistent. Be ready to fire a second shot (and third, and fourth) if they're further away, or melee if they're closer. If you're looking for a shotgun with range, try hipfiring the fusion rifles. The pulse rifles all seem to be pretty bad in Crucible - I haven't found one worth using yet. Regarding shotguns, has anyone unlocked one with the full-auto upgrade? I'm wondering how those are. Also, are you guys hipfiring or ADS with the shottys?

If I do ADS I aim for the head unlike most games shotguns do get crits on headshot.

Yeah it wasn't unlocked when I first looked it appeared so I went over some of the story missions for a bit extra XP and stuff and, as soon as I typed that and started to head to Tower, I saw it available. As this is not a military shooter I was hoping to have a top drawer shotgun. The one I used had more back kick and less range than the MTS in Ghosts I swear. Or am I too used to Borderlands now? Four slots - shotgun, sniper rifle, launcher, and whatever else. . The shock grenade I use is pretty decent though in crowd control and shield stripping against the Captains, bit like the Storm Front in Borderlands.

If someone wants I'll write out a basic how to with Destiny. Not gonna lie I figured it out pretty quick but MMORPGs and RPGs aren't new to me so. Yeah I had a similar experience, probably because I just play far too many kinds of games and have seen way way too many waypoint systems. Destiny's waypoint system isn't the best, and I don't understand why they don't let us look at a map in mission. You can see a big overview map when you select your mission, but that's about it. If you get in the habit of following the white arrow on the edge of your radar it generally leads you to the right place. There were a couple of things I initially couldn't figure out because I didn't know I had to hold the button down instead of just press it. For some odd reason Destiny is obsessed with making you hold the button down, and some of them have a long timer. That seems a tad excessive. I understand not letting us go to orbit too quickly from missions as that would be a free get out of jail card. Then again, there's no penalty for dying so what difference does it make? Let me go to orbit immediately or with less than a second of holding the button pls. Vehicle wait makes more sense. The wait time to talk to NPCs or open the vault seems completely unnecessary. The wait time to dismantle seems excessive, though I guess it keeps you from dismantling things accidentally. Still if that were a real issue you could just give us a means of undoing it or something, I'm sure you could work in some reason you're able to do that in the lore, prolly via the ghost. They're magic. The cynical side of me thinks all these prompts to hold the button down are really just timesinks to spread out the content over a larger amount of playtime. Sure they are pretty short, but when you do them a few hundred times it adds up and I wish Destiny would cut that chit out. That and the launch cinematic seems excessive. It may be partly hiding the load, but it seems like the game actually finishes loading before your ship starts to drop from orbit. I will grant that when you're buddied up in a strike team it's kinda badass how you fly in formation, but still... Overall I have relatively few complaints, though. On the other hand, hand cannons seem pointless to me. I can't make them worth using... mebbe with a green one. They fire and reload too slow for close work, and the recoil and damage drop off make them pretty shit at range. Scout Rifle>Hand Cannon in pretty much every way so far as I can tell. I'll even take the scout rifle over it up close with it's faster ROF and bigger mag plus at that range it's easy to abuse headshots. If they get any closer it's shotgun and melee time. *shrug*

They removed confirmation prompts and replaced them with a button hold. On the other hand, I thought the mechanic for summoning a vehicle makes no sense. Why is it that I can wave at someone or dance with one button, but taking out my vehicle is a series of buttons? Regarding time sinks, I hate the amount of load screens and how long things generally take. The Tower is just a glorified menu system, I really don't need to be quitting out of matchmaking, sitting at a load screen to go to orbit, sitting at another load screen to go to the Tower, running between things in the tower, sitting at another load screen to go to orbit, and then sitting at another load screen to go to a game. Can't they at the very least let us set a destination to go to straight from the Tower? Also, is there really a need to kick a player out of a fireteam if they switch characters? And that's ignoring if god forbid you want to switch characters and transfer a weapon or something between them.

Also, tip (credit goes to GodMars for this one) when you redeem bounties, the experience goes towards all of the items you have in your current loadout. Make sure to equip items that need to be upgraded before redeeming the bounties to have that experience count towards unlocking the upgraded abilities.
There's no cost to the bounties, correct? There's no reason to not purchase them?

For bros who have played the beta extensively and feel like you need some extra motivation, there are cool cosmetic stuff you can burn your hard earned glimmer on:
1) Ships: these can be purchased at the Shipwright, cost around 2000 - 3000 glimmers. Since we are forced by bungie to watch a lot of cut scenes of the ship flying around, getting a cooler ship can make the experience much more bearable. Also, it makes you the cool kid in the lobby when playing Crucible;
2) Emblems: these can be purchased at the Outfitters. Common ones only cost 500 - 1000 glimmer, while the rare ones can cost 2000+. I got a very cool looking rare eagle emblem by shelling out 2250(?) glimmer. This will also make you stand our in the Crucible lobby;
3) Vehicles: these can be purchased at the Shipwright as well. If you want to make yourself look cool while driving through Cosmodrome or Fight Light Crucible map, this is where you spend your glimmer. It will cost you around 2250;
Once you set your eyes on these, you will be motivated to dive into Explore and earn your wages. You can accumulate wealth pretty fast this way, as loot chests, killed enemies and mission rewards can give you generous amount of glimmer.

I should start doing that. Also keep trying to go strait into glide from jumping off the bike but screw up the timing. I have a feeling we'll all be pro at it soon.
I do wish having my vehicle shot out from under me would not kill me. heh It seems to die nearly instantly, though it's ever so slightly better now that I've found all the golden chests. But then, it's beta and clearly most of the vehicles are locked out. I've seem more durable ones on vendors.
As for timesinks, I dunno. I can see holding it down to avoid a prompt, but I'd probably prefer a prompt because I can hit the confirm button immediately if there is one. Plus most of the things really don't need a confirmation. Why do I have to hold the triangle button down for several seconds just to leave the end mission screen and go to orbit... especially considering you can bring that screen back up from orbit if you want to review it? That's a waste of my time and all it's going to do is encourage me to start holding it down early when I would otherwise have looked at the end mission screen more. I really don't see the point of that. Why do I have to wait just to talk to NPC's? That just seems like a waste of my time.
For that matter, why force us back to orbit every time we finish a mission? Why don't they just end like the free roam missions and we can choose to go to orbit, or get this, we could mebbe do the next mission? That'd be great! The whole orbit thing is really pretty pointless. Why is there a middle man? Mission to tower, tower to mission, mission to mission, orbit should be nothing more than a load screen. The only good point about orbit is when you first log in you can decide where to go from there, but otherwise we should totally be able to skip it. I don't see why we even need to reload the map to do another mission in the same huge ass map. That's silly. Okay so they don't want you to have to backtrack out of the mission buildings without a waypoint I guess. A little bit of handholding there. But really, would it be that difficult to create a one way exit from the boss area that leads back outside but doesn't let people in? Our ghost could even waypoint it and tell us how to get out.
Thing is, I think they didn't want to streamline the game too much. If it's too streamlined people will blow through the content far too quickly, and as much as there is I know it won't be enough. We're all going to finish all the story missions pretty fast and then we'll be grinding and looting and playing crucible. Though I think strike missions with friends have a lot of replay value.
As for vehicles... I can kinda see it both ways. The social gestures are meant to be streamlined, because nobody would use them if you had to push multiple buttons. People barely use them as is except for occasional trolling or dance parties. Which is kind of a shame. Personally I wish at least the point gesture would be tied to a spotting mechanic that would mark things. That would have some practical use during combat. And if you used it on terrain maybe it could create a temporary strike team only waypoint for pointing out things to your team.
I also hope they wind up having more areas on Earth. It feels odd to me having the entire planet represented by one map in Russia. I'd love to see a more urban setting with more verticality, jumping from rooftops to rooftops and climbing half toppled buildings. Or how about actually seeing the city we're defending up close at some point? I don't know what we'd do there, but I do feel awkwardly removed from it because we're not allowed to get any closer than the tower. Who are these people we're defending, what's life like there? Everyone we ever meet is a guardian... I think that's missing from the narrative. Maybe some sort of incursion and we have to repel it and try to save civilians in the area? *shrug*

You can save the 2250 on the vehicle by finding 5 golden chests in the Cosmodrome, though the color is random.
One is near the beginning of one of the first few missions sitting up about eye level clear as day. I think it's generally the first loot chest you even find and was featured in preview videos of the game as well.
The next is at the Array. Just play the mission until you get to the wizard you're supposed to kill. When you're in the area where respawning is restricted there are two large rooms that serve as arenas for the boss fight. In the second room there is an upper level on one side. Up there next to a light is a golden chest.
Next on your way to the coast you ride your speeder thingy down the river, be watching for caves on the left. Inside one is another golden chest.
When you get to the coast get to the water and head left with the ocean on your right and a cliff on the left. Stay down by the water and keep going until you find a golden chest on your left.
The last one is at the end of Devil's Lair. Get to the boss fight with the giant orb and head to the lower level. (You don't have to jump down the middle there are stairs down on the right and if you need an even safer way go left and through a doorway into a dark room with busted windows and there's a back stairway down there.) On the lower level on the right hand side is the final chest. You're pretty safe from the boss himself down here so you don't have to beat him before you go for it, just watch out for all his little friends everywhere and there are normally a few down there as well.
If anybody has any trouble finding them hit me up and I'll try to help or google it and watch some vids. Or if you see me in game I'll take you if I'm not busy. I like exploring.
BTW Don't stop at just those. There are TONS of normal loot crates as well. Check rooftops, boats, caves, buildings, ect... And if there are higher level enemies in a spot, look around for a chest. For example just in front of the array is sort of a little road with a cave and a hill in front of it. There's usually two level 7 enemies there that are easy, but inside there are level 11's and usually a captain in a doughnut shaped cave which also has a back entrance up closer to the Array entrance. Inside here where the enemies are there's a very dark ledge with a regular chest on it. I missed it many times. Be sure to check every cave, and always behind the rocks. I've found some in caves that look like nothing but respawn areas.
And have fun. ;3

This...this is not good. This game is going to take over my life, isn't it?

I know the extra quircks and skills on the green weapons are kept in the crucible, but are armor bonuses live there too? I have some armor that increases my scout rifle reload, but im not sure if its just placebo.
Also are there no way to share loot between players in this game? Other players that is, not between your own characters.

As far as I know there is no player to player trading at this time. For that matter I haven't even seen a way to sell items, just dismantle them, which kinda works better anyway since you can do it anytime.

I vote Witty for president too. He's a good organizer. I always have him be the fireteam leader. Big post incoming with videos! 3rd Day of addiction. All maxxed out. My favorite character is the titan. Surprisingly fantastic melee ability once you get the upgrade. When you have the upgrade every time you melee hits you have a chance for the cooldown to be immediately filled. I have chained 5 melee supers in a row because of this! The jetpack is also very controllable, though less so than warlock. The main reason I like the titan is the ultimate. Very nice area of effect and very easy to use, but the damage and knockback it inflicts is incredible. Once you get its upgrade it does continuous damage, effectively denying a large area. Very useful in public events. Speaking of public events. These are really cool. There is something badass about seeing players ride in from all corners of the map just to team up for a hard fought victory. There is a public event that is possible to solo as I got really lucky once... The one where you have to transmit while waves of enemies attack you. The key is tostay around the beacon and try to survive. As long as you are around the beacon you will gain points. 100 are needed for gold and the event lasts 3 minutes. You need to stay on the beacon for half of the time and you can still win. My favorite part of openworld is the exploration. I know that is a finite experience, but it is still epic nonetheless. On three seperate occasions (once with Witty, Once with my friend Abbadon Rise, and once by myself) I have been exploring the no-man's land of "The Grotto" which is littered with invincible enemies that love to one-shot you. But ONE MUST EXPLORE! I thought there would be no reward and yet on my second expedition I found a dead ghost! bwahahahaha. We also found an enemy that isn't seen anywhere else! EXCLAMATION POINT The Grotto Shrieker First ContactSecond Exploration and Dead Ghost LocationThird Exploration: Full CircleThere were also some surprisingly epic moments. and some funny moments... watch til the end P.S. My favorite weapon is definitely the Sahara Auto-Rifle. 48 Mag with tons of reserve ammo. One of its abilities makes it reload faster when the mag is empty I have equipment that boosts its reload speed as well. It is inaccurate for only the first few shots then it balances out and gets more accurate. This really helps it melt the Devil's Lair bosses.

Speaking of the bosses in Devil's Lair, that tank thing. You can actually cheese him by going up the map on the right hand side and shoot its legs through that passage way and his attacks don't get you.

You need to stay on the beacon for half of the time and you can still win. Heh, sounds like King of the Hill from Unreal/Gears. Played it once yesterday. It's pretty fun though.
