I think right now it matters only for Prestige Nightfall. Assuming challenge mode for the raid is coming soon, though, so it might help there. And maybe Iron Banner? (As if anyone wants to play that crucible garbage...)

I got one too... then put it into my uriel's gift to make it 299 So, can we discuss the fact that, outside of the raid, power level means pretty much nothing to your average player? Depending on what I equip I’m right on the edge of 300, and I’m not any better off than I was at 265. Unless I'm pugging, I could give a $hit about the "average player" As for me: I ran the nightfall last night at 289 with Hawk... We ran the nightfall at 265 together. Power level matters there. Total world of difference. Night and day.

Yeah nightfall and raid, that is about it really.
Although Being over 250 helps a lot with publics as well. There is little difference between being 280 and 305 in everything except prestige stuff at this point.

I can take more of a licking and outlast more players, instead of trading kills like last week. Plus a 302 MIDA vs a 284 MIDA seems to hit harder. More in-game street cred if you are 300 versus 280. Hey, you laugh... but if I had a nickel for everytime a KF HM CM pug took me as a 335 over a 330 other, I'd buy dedicated servers for Bungo

I think that if you are in a fireteam, the game may use the average of your light level for some activities. So in that Nightfall last night, it was 289, making it easier for me, and more difficult for you. Of course, what also made it easier for me was having done it a few times already, and being able to go invisible at will.

It'll be easy for you!" BTW... want to try to get it done in 5 minutes this time, so I can get my Rat King? EDIT: and 1 more on Polo2, non-Rat king timer related

Happy to help out on Polo2 if I'm on. Given how little time we had left last night, it may make sense to wait for an easier week to go for 5 minutes left.

Also probably the best PvE side arm in the game.

Every review of it I've seen says that it's underwhelming and the exotic perk is even less.

pretty decent in this week NF though. take one void and one solar in your team for wizz (and boss). use arc energy weapons. Borealis is actually pretty solid I guess.
I don't really get the sniper hate. They are just not the go to dps weapon on every range they once where. They are actually snipers now... Who would have thought

I got one too... then put it into my uriel's gift to make it 299 So, can we discuss the fact that, outside of the raid, power level means pretty much nothing to your average player? Depending on what I equip I’m right on the edge of 300, and I’m not any better off than I was at 265. Power level means exactly what it says on the tin, it makes you able to do damage to higher level opponents. Its a gear check in every sense of the word, running prestige nightfall at 280 you'll be one-shot by boomers and snipers because the game doesn't want you to enter this activity before you've grinded to the appropriate level. It's never been anything else than a key top open a door in the first game, and its just about the same in this game. In the raid if you're past 280 you'll be doing the max possible damage, if you're past 300 you'll do max possible damage in the nightfall. Being 305 is more about things to come, hard mode raid coming up you'll probably wanna be as high as possible as we do not know which power level we will face. Iron Banner has been datamined and might be power level based, in which case you also want to be as high as possible. Its more about the satisfaction of progression, you're referring to the average player. The average player doesn't know the usual ins and outs of mid-maxing damage output etc. The only thing they're seeing is a number going up as they play, giving them a sense of improvement. This satisfaction from a player is what Destiny is built on and what keeps people playing regardless of the actual in-game effect this number might have. In terms of gear progression, there's also the 280 and 305 mark that gives you these benefits: 280+ grants you access to the gunsmith in which you can mid-max your PVP loadout to max stat effectiveness and PVE loadout for reduced cooldowns and reload speed for higher DPS. 305 grants you the chance of blue gear and vendor gearing having a chance to drop at 300 power level, making you able to boost your entire arsenal to the cap for things to come. I think right now it matters only for Prestige Nightfall. Assuming challenge mode for the raid is coming soon, though, so it might help there. And maybe Iron Banner? (As if anyone wants to play that crucible garbage...) Challenge mode is not coming anytime soon, next thing up is prestige raid. The prestige raid gear has even been datamined, and does not have any perks which actually help you in the raid. Iron banner has consistently peaked crucible population every time its been live, even keeping players who only play for the loot in mind. So, can we discuss the fact that, outside of the raid, power level means pretty much nothing to your average player? Depending on what I equip I’m right on the edge of 300, and I’m not any better off than I was at 265. Hey, you laugh... but if I had a nickel for everytime a KF HM CM pug took me as a 335 over a 330 other, I'd buy dedicated servers for Bungo If you're past the cap of an activity, you do not do any more damage past that cap. This has been consistent since vanilla Destiny 1. There was no scaling of light level present throughout Destiny 1 activites, the only instances power level scaling in Destiny 2 is in lost sectors and some patrol areas. Normal nightfall is capped at 240, past that cap you'll be doing the exact same damage as someone who's 305. There has never been scaling within a fireteam in terms of either power level or light level, to date there are no activities in Destiny 2 that has this mechanic present. What there is however, is enemies scaled in terms of damage output and health to be appropriate for difficulty within activities. Enemies at your power level in patrol will take less shots and do less damage than enemies in the prestige nightfall. In Destiny 1 there was always a modifier present with every nightfalll that stated enemies are tougher, this is present in Destiny 2 nightfalls as well but there's no modifier to state it. Enemies have a base health and damage present in every activity, these values will scale exceptionally depending on how many power levels you are below the enemy in question. At its cap, the enemy will take the same shots to kill regardless of which power level you are. Damage values are scaled differently and to a base value in PVP for the sake of balance. Biggest difference in PVP would be energy weapons dont have a damage penalty compared to PVE. PVP activities that state "Level Advantages Disabled" has base value scaling present and power level is completely disregarded when taking damage into account. In Destiny 1 light level of legendary gear affected the amount of Intellect, Discipline and Strength your character had meaning that even with no light levels enabled there was still a distinct advantage being high level. This is not present in Destiny 2 even with the armor mods system has blue mods and legendary mods give the exact same bonuses. Your MIDA will always do a rounded 44 damage to the head within its effective range every single time (unless a balance patch hits) regardless of how high your power level is. The health value of all the different classes is exactly the same and is only affected by the amount of resilience your characters has. Yall need sum of that KNAWLEDGE

Again, I'll try to screenshot it

I have a dumb question.
Fallen (Arc) - Hive (Solar) - Vex (Void) –
So the bad guys who are the ghost looking fallen, or whatever they are. They are all space'ish looking, black, etc...I think the Vex made some fallen look like that? Can't remember the backstory. What element do you need to break down their shield. Or I should say, ...if I get this right...any element gun can break down a shield. But matching the right element, will create an explosion when the shield is dropped. Is that right? So what element matches with those monsters?
