10 hours in, one prestige plus change, starting to get a better feel for the maps. I feel pretty confident in saying that FFA is just a bad mode for this game at this point. Too random, the spawns are easily the worst in COD FFA history, and that's saying something. I need to do more team games, for the most part I've been enjoying them when I play them. Biggest problem aside from FFA in general is the jankiness of the new movement system. It just doesn't feel that good. It randomly screws up your ability to ADS completely screwing over your aim. You mess up your jump and you may or may not get a weird mantling animation that may or may not actually work. I've had those situations teleport me in unpredictable ways as well. It's just plain janky.
Not in love with the map design either. There's just so much shit that's purpose-built to be one double-jump high. Yet there are tons of places where it looks like you should be able to hop on a ledge and you get invisible-walled back down. They look stupid and they play stupid. I hopped on the Atlas Gorge playlist... and I didn't play many rounds... but is it just me or did they chop off like a third of the map? I'm remembering "Pipeline" correctly right? I can't think of a single map I'm willing to say that I actually like. Detroit is ok-ish. Riot I absolutely hate. The jungle one I hate. The jungle mansion one I hate. The snowy one I hate... I still need to learn the map names.
I can tell I'm going to play it more than Ghosts, but I'm not sure if I'll ever really like this game.

Well, Games with Gold vs PS+ games is another debate (PS+ wins handily if you invest in PS3 or Vita), but Microsoft just has better network infrastructure. Titanfall on Xbox Live Compute is a smoother experience than COD listen-server jank. Voice chat is much better on Xbox, PS4 voice quality is embarrassing. Microsoft has better OS guys, the achievement system is better than trophies. The counter to that is while I think Microsoft has much better OS guys, overall the OS still suffers from ridiculous slowdowns at time, whereas PS4 is generally responsive. That kind of shit can drive me nuts.
Both consoles kind of blow if you lose internet connection.

PS4 is a better machine, and will have a more diverse lineup of games, along with better performing versions of cross-platform games. Xbox Live is still better than PSN. Xbox controller is better, but that's more preference than anything (unless you're talking battery life, in which case XBO kills PS4 -- but then again, PS4 controller comes with a built-in battery whereas whatever solution you go with on XBO is going to cost you extra).
If you're strictly a COD gamer, PS4 is the better version, though there's the faster DLC on Xbox exclusive deal bullshit.
But yes, there's a lot of good deals on Xbox right now, since they're a little desperate to catch up, so it's not a bad opportunity if you're a fan of the Xbox brand.

Ok, maybe not that translatable. I agree it's probably related to Goliath or something. I think the "fuck players" section might be the self-destruct or does it just have on-death explosion damage? I don't know I've gotten like two Goliaths and the thing was rubbish. It seems like there's a sense of grammar in parts, where just translating word by word kind of puts stuff out of order in certain situations. So maybe they do have a space-cadet programmer who went through and translated all of their variable names. Pretty hilarious
Here's what I got on the first part. There's bound to be massive amounts of translating errors. Since the second part wasn't up, and I didn't feel like starting over it's not included:

Official Ruleswww.winps4bundle.com/or text to 87654 Free play code: 3A6NNMH399L You can play the code once per day. You can have up to 5 people playing in a household, so if you sign up everyone (or just make up a couple of fake relatives that live with you), you're set for 5 cracks at it per night until the end of the contest. One PS4 is spit out in every 15 minute interval. Thus, odds are best when the fewest people are entering codes. Casuals will enter all day that Taco Bell is open and they're buying and seeing the contest on the boxes. I figure most Taco Bells are closed by midnight or so. I've been targeting 4am-5am ET for the most part (that's 1am-2am my time). Keep in mind that Eastern is the most populated time zone by far, followed by Central, and that Mountain + Pacific are only like 20%. I'd guess any time before 11am ET or so is decent to target. Depends on what your sleep schedule is like, and if you're willing to set up an alarm to be up at the best times. As for the mechanics of the contest, a random time is generated in each 15 minute interval, and then next code played is awarded the PS4 bundle. Presumably it can be generated for any second in that span. Some people think they may only generate a random minute. If that's the case you could dramatically help your odds by playing at the turn of a minute, except that I have reason to believe that their clock is skewed enough from official time that it's hard to say. There's not much downside to playing on a minute change, and that's mostly what I was doing, but my wins this year came when I entered a few seconds late on the minute change. Minute + 10s as measured by www.time.govThe free-play code went live at midnight, and I did hammer the refresh to see when it actually when live, that was midnight plus 26 seconds or so. It's perfectly reasonable that it wouldn't be the same clock that's running the game though. Simple way to test the game clock would be to play a code during the day on your email through the website, try playing it again with the same email. You'll notice you get a prompt rejection for having already played. If you watch time.gov around midnight, and just constantly retry that entry starting at like 11:59:50, when your entry finally goes through you'll know what 'true' midnight is based on time.gov. I was planning on doing that experiment, but since I won, there's not much point anymore. But, IF it generates a random minute instead of second, and the clock skew is somewhat significant, as I kind of think it is, then you can basically get your odds of winning at an odd hour down to 1/15, and given that you can do 5 plays in a day, those wouldn't be bad odds. It's hard to say how few entries there are at super odd hours. I'm guessing some of those periods might see fewer than 10 entries, I've seen plenty of people claim to have won on their first few attempts, it's kinda crazy. Now with the free play code available there's probably a significant uptick in entries. I didn't count how many entries I did last year, I'd estimate I won the PS4 on 20 entries or so. This year it was 2 wins on 37 entries. I'm really hoping this contest comes back again in 2015. OK Dumien, now go forth and win that Destiny bundle.

It was almost certainly typed in english (well english-like computer code) and then translated. But, the thing is they can't translate both "yes" and "yeah", because they are translating computer code. So if more than one english word can map to a single klingon word, then the translation breaks, and the code doesn't work.
Maybe a better example of it being more translatable than bing lets on:
Original:
"QIH nach ghISDen bach" "wa' loS" "QIH ro ghISDen" "wa' pagh" "QIH DeS ghISDen" "wa' pagh" "QIH 'uS ghISDen" "wa' pagh"
Bing: "Head DAMAGE scales shot" "the story of the first four" "The WRONG one" or "chest scales" "WRONG Arm scales" "or one" "This is the WRONG leg scales" "no one"
Translating word by word and applying an ounce of sense: "damage head scale shot" "1 4" "damage chest scale" "1 0" "damage arm scale" "1 0" "damage leg scale" "1 0"

I'll clarify. Then you can judge my rightness...or wrongness lol. I don't know anything about computer science... but I do know a bit about how languages work. In translation sometimes (alot of the times) there isn't a 1 to 1 relationship across languages (fictive or no). As in...you can have 3 words in language 1 that are roughly synonymous. However, language 2 only has one word that is roughly synonymous. Now pretend that some translation software knows of this relationship. Type any of the 3 words of language 1 and it will only spit out the single term in language 2. Is that the "lookup table" you are talking about? Not really, because I'm not really concerned with any meaningful translations. The lookup table here is one-to-one. Well, sort of. There can be a list of roughly synonymous terms if we try to reverse engineer what the translation is. But, it's still 1 to 1 in the sense that it is meant to be parsed by a computer and that each klingon word or phrase will always translate to the same english word. But it's probably not unreasonable to reverse engineer the table. Since klingon isn't much of a real language there are limited resources as far as translating. And since what is translated is computer code, there is a limited about of English that you're starting with. For example, look at the first line. nuH De' The bing translation that ChloeB42 (Alexcalibur42) posted for that is Arsenal Computer But bing is trying to do what you describe. Translate some meaning instead of doing a word by word replace. But translation software kind of sucks so it can be painfully wrong. Since those two Klingon words weren't enclosed by quotes, it's likely that they are not meant to be translated together in that way. If you translate just nuH you get "possibility", and if you translate just "De'" you get "data". "possibility" doesn't sound very computer code. But "data" seems reasonable. Better than Arsenal Computer at least. Now De' doesn't appear anywhere else in the excerpt, but maybe it's in other files. I'd feel pretty confident that it's data. nUh on the other hand is all over the place. If you bing translate it yourself, you'll see a handy feature where if you highlight a word, it highlights the corresponding part in the other language. This makes it very obvious that in alex's post a lot of the "in a"s and "of the"s probably shouldn't be there at all. But more importantly, if you highlight "nuH", it often says "weapon". That seems reasonable, so I'd assume that anytime you see "nuH" it should translate as "weapon", and thus the first thing isn't "Arsenal Computer", it's "weapon data". Maybe a longer line will illustrate the point a little better... check out: mIw pa''e' vang wa' Full line translation of that: in recognition of the first action room Wtf. But if you translate each word separately you get: stage room act one Ok, maybe still not great, but it's probably a lot closer. I also notice that having quotes up against a klingon word maybe makes it translate differently. But in computer code quotes are just quotes, they organize strings. So I think a more useful starting point than the straight bing translation would be to translate each word individually and without any quotes. From the other side maybe a useful starting point would be to make a short list of expected terms, maybe based on a previous game's weapon files and translate those through bing, and do a simple replace of any such terms. The more hits you get from that, the easier the rest will be from context.

I'm enough of a Trekkie to have noticed that they were Klingon words at a glance. They gave me a free "Conversational Klingon" cassette tape when I ordered the Star Trek Encyclopedia by using a touch-tone phone. Yep, I was a pretty awesome kid. The SCENE V ELSINORE thing doesn't matter. There's probably a lot of Shakespeare crap in Klingon/English dictionaries, remember it's the result of the bing translation going the other way. It's not inherently relevant, most likely just a translation error. Watch Star Trek VI and it will make more sense. But yeah, ignore the Hamlet stuff. Not sure I 100% understand what Dumien is saying. He's either right or mostly right... or maybe wrong? "key" is probably not a good word to use in this context, "map" or "lookup table" are better. The "each single list" of terms thing is throwing me off. This is almost surely just 1 to 1 translation. It has to follow very simple rules. So I guess on that point you're wrong, you don't need the original software because what the software does is trivial. I think a key thing that nobody in this thread has touched on is the quotes. With your bing translation it appears to be matching the single quote character (which appears all over the place in klingon words) with the double quotes. So the quoting on the translation side ends up being pretty garbled which doesn't help its readability at all. Now, I don't know much about COD files. This is some sort of script? Maybe if you post the equivalent file from one of the previous games that is well-understood, it might provide more insight. Back to the quotes thing, I'd say anything within double quotes is meant to be translated as a whole. As in the english may have been one word, and the lookup table expanded it to two or more. It also seems like strings of numbers are quoted as well, those are surely meant to be translated into 0123456789 and not "one two three etc". I'm guessing whoever did this in the first place probably didn't put THAT much work into it. As such I think it will not be too bad to crack. Maybe the lookup table exists somewhere in the game files? Or maybe not and they replaced those strings in the interpreter so that the "klingon" version is the actual version that is understood and run. It's very possible that they used bing translate to make their table. So I'll ask again, is this file a quake engine thing? Is this a unique scripting thing to COD? I hope someone from SHG is monitoring and laughing at this thread.

Played a couple of rounds. So... no grunts, Titans are pretty much on a death timer, takes about 3 seconds for a pilot to die after hitting the ground. Still deciding how I feel about it. Another thing that is noteworthy: the amount of ammo you carry with your weapons is dismal. For me it means this: Upon prestiging, one item can be chosen for permanent unlock, like BO2. Scavenger is screaming to be the first Especially after Titanfall and its all you can eat buffet of ammo plus more available in your Titan. I run out of ammo shockingly fast in AW.

I think if you go to the PlayStation console you pre-ordered it for, and go to the store and try to buy it/download it again, THEN go to your other console it should be available for download. And yes that's janky as hell. As for Xbox I don't think they really have the crossbuy philosophy so I don't know if you can do it, but I got the PS4 version and don't care about the last gen at all.

Having fun with the single player, once I noticed that I could pick 80% flinch reduction and sleight of hand reloads pretty much right away in the boosts menu. That and the threat highlighting grenades and target finder sights make it a fun shooting gallery instead of a tedious squinting to see enemies situation that some of the other CODs have been on Veteran.
On the MP side of things I am REALLY not digging the pings, and I'm running into a lot of the typical COD bullshit. I'm sure once I learn the maps I'll be fine. Momentum scoring was a bit incomprehensible to me. There's flags up top, then some kind of gauge on the bottom. Then there was overtime, but the other team got to start with automated turrets or something.

There's the crappy "mute all" option that mutes all the current players, but as new ones file in you have to do it over and over. I forgot how bad PS4 voice chat is. Everybody's mic makes weird buzzing noises, everyone sounds like they're underwater. That shit seems like it's behind even the OG Xbox.
Pings were all over the place, lots of janky killcams.
Graphics are decent, better than Ghosts for sure. Single player looks pretty good, multiplayer looks less good, but frame rate is rock solid. Good design choice. Graphics tech obviously a step behind something like Battlefield 4 though.
Single player on Veteran is to some extent the same old shit, peak your head out and you're immediately absorbing left and right hooks while somebody throws strawberry jam into your eyes. The more stealthy/breachy parts work a lot better.
Win/loss was glitched, played multi for 90 minutes or so, game claimed I went 6-38. In reality I think I played maybe 10 games.
Personally I had real troubles hearing footsteps in this game so far. Really only hearing them when I'm directly above or below players. I hit the stealth exo once and didn't hear a guy running a few feet behind me. Might be getting distracted by environmental noises.
Not enjoying the killstreaks at all. The sentry gun is now a remote turret that doesn't shoot at all if you don't take direct control of it? Wtf. UAV seems to be the only good streak that I have unlocked. The Warbird or whatever kind of sucks.
Preload worked fine on PS4, only jankiness was that the countdown was an hour off because people don't understand DST. But that got patched before launch. Kind of disappointing though, thought I'd get to play an hour early!
Not sure if this game is going to hold my interest for that long. But we'll see. I was super-tired when playing my first session, but I needed to have that 12 players all level 1 the second the game launches feel.

I tried using slo-mo a little bit on my PC montage, though I think it didn't really work, since you couldn't really tell that particular clip was actually slo-mo. It just made my shot look less impressive. Maybe slo-mo is better used in an instant-replay capacity?
And then there's the problem of quite a few of my Game DVR clips suffering from the no-sound bug. some of my PC footage has the issue of it recording the music I was listening to at the time. Ugh, I guess for those clips I'd probably want to recreate certain sound effects. At least for the firing and explosion noises of the actual geese. I think that would work ok alongside montage music. I think I'm going to need better software than Windows Movie Maker for sure.
Also, I totally did not remain calm. I was too concerned about making sure I recorded that clip to where I completely forgot to run over to his body and teabag him vigorously.

Well, since they have population numbers now, looks to be about 6.5k on Xbox One, and something like 1.8k on PC as of around 7:30 US Pacific Coast time. COD Ghosts is 8.5k in playlists on XBO, 12.5k 'online'. From the way Titanfall presents numbers I would think it would be most analogous to the playlist numbers. I don't have Ghosts PC but I imagine that it's a ghost town (pun courtesy of my subconscious). BF4 is 14k for PC and 15k for Xbox One. Have no idea if that's a 'logged into the game' or 'playlist' number.

There's some in game info that sort of explains how ranked play works. For example you gain points in attrition at a rate of Attrition Points - Deaths. So it seems like if you're skilled you'll level up faster, but I don't know if there's a real skill component if everyone is going to get to the top rank by the end of the season just by playing enough.
The map stars don't appear related. They're their own criteria.

The stars for maps in other game modes are a bit bullshit. 7 mark kills in MFD on each map? 150 attrition points on each map? If it retroactively scanned your old games I'd probably have a decent head start.. But c'mon man, 100% completion of this game will now just plain not happen.

It's pretty fun. Rounds have indeed been pretty short, like 10-15 minutes? Lost one harvester with a team of retards, so 2 stars, the other 2-3 games were all walks in the park. I think this is going to need a harder difficulty setting patched in.
